My carpet takes forever to dry after a cleaning. Is that normal here?

Culver City sits close enough to the coast that marine air keeps humidity up, so drying is slower than it would be inland toward the Valley. We have a postwar tract house on a slab and the dog had accidents. Can that actually be fixed?

Honest answer: it depends how far it went. In the small postwar homes and duplexes near the studio, there's no subfloor to absorb anything, so urine soaks through carpet and pad and pools on the concrete slab. Surface cleaning alone will not stop the smell from coming back. We check with a moisture meter and UV light first, then tell you plainly whether topical treatment is enough or whether the pad needs to come up and the slab needs sealing. We'd rather tell you it's a pad replacement than take your money for a cleaning that fails in two weeks.

What's causing the dark lines along my baseboards and under the doors?

That's filtration soiling. Culver City catches heavy traffic exhaust off La Cienega and the 405/10 corridors, and that fine soot gets pulled through gaps at the edge of the carpet and along door thresholds as air moves through the house. It's soot particles embedded in the fibers, not regular dirt, so it needs a specific pretreatment and agitation rather than a standard pass. It usually improves substantially. Sealing baseboard gaps and changing your HVAC filter more often slows it from coming back.

I'm in one of the newer apartments near Ivy Station. Will this work on the glue-down carpet?

Yes, and it's usually a different method than what a house gets. Most of the mid-rise apartments and lofts in that area use olefin loop or glue-down commercial carpet, which doesn't tolerate standing water and can wick or delaminate if overwet. We generally use low-moisture encapsulation on those. It cleans well and dries fast without leaving sticky residue that re-soils.
